| Byte | B | A byte is 8 bits and typically stores one character of text. |

| Megabyte | MB | A megabyte (SI) is 1,000,000 bytes, the unit for photos and songs. |
| Gigabyte | GB | A gigabyte (SI) is one billion bytes. Phone storage and data plans are sold in GB. |
| Terabyte | TB | A terabyte (SI) is 1,000 GB, the common size for hard drives. |
| Kibibyte | KiB | A kibibyte is 1,024 bytes (binary prefix). |
| Mebibyte | MiB | A mebibyte is 1,048,576 bytes (1,024 KiB). |
